Robert Alcorn’s focus is on business law and litigation with special emphasis on disputes arising out of business contracts, mortgage lending transactions, creditor-debtor disputes, and employment relations.
Mr. Alcorn represents clients in a variety of industries. He has had notable success on behalf of mortgage servicing companies in post foreclosure proceedings such as evictions. He practices in both the state trial and appellate courts. He has successfully represented small businesses in debt collection proceedings, suits for breach of contract, and fraud claims. Mr. Alcorn also sat second chair in a trial where he helped obtain a directed verdict in a suit alleging breach of contract and fraud in the sale of a business and in a trial where he obtained a judgment for the plaintiff for breach of real property lease and conversion of personal property. Mr. Alcorn also has experience in drafting and enforcing contracts seeking to protect against the theft and disclosure of confidential, proprietary, and trade secret information of a company.
Mr. Alcorn represents the firm’s municipal clients successfully in sex, race, and age discrimination cases and has obtained summary judgment for a municipality in a suit alleging violations of the Texas Water Code and Inverse Condemnation. He serves as a substitute trustee for several major mortgage lenders in Dallas County.
Prior to joining the firm of Maris & Lanier, P.C., Mr. Alcorn represented the United States Small Business Administration in drafting and approving loan documents for the disaster recovery program.
